MIT Brain & Cognitive Science Center

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Brain and Cognitive Science Center is the largest neuroscience center in the world and an interdisciplinary research and teaching facility that integrates three pioneering institutions. The Center sits on top an active rail corridor and is built around a 90 foot, 5-story atrium. The 410,000 square foot facility includes wet and dry laboratories, classrooms, libraries, an auditorium, offices, and a conference center. The facility was designed and constructed to achieve a Silver LEED rating through the use of high-performance exterior materials, gray-water recycling, and heat recovery.

MIT Department of Facilities hired MOCA Systems to provide professional services in support of their construction management of the facility. MOCA provided cost engineering, scheduling, and progress monitoring support through the use of construction simulation technology to help MIT maintain control.

Quote:

“MOCA provides me with “night vision” capabilities to better see what is happening on the project budget and schedule, especially in terms of actual progress and resource requirements. It’s exciting to work with MOCA and its construction simulation system, to provide a new level of insight and control.”
